Pakistan and China commit to strengthening their cooperative partnership.

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari met with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng on Wednesday, emphasizing their commitment to strengthening the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership rooted in mutual trust, respect, and a shared aspiration for regional peace and prosperity.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Second World Summit for Social Development. Both leaders agreed to maintain close collaboration on regional and international matters of mutual interest.

Reflecting on his recent visit to China, President Zardari highlighted the enduring bond between Pakistan and China, describing them as iron brothers and all-weather strategic partners. He expressed gratitude for China’s unwavering support during difficult times, reaffirming that the relationship with China remains a central pillar of Pakistan’s foreign policy.

President Zardari also praised China’s contribution to the progress of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which has now entered its second phase of high-quality development.

Vice President Han Zheng extended warm greetings from President Xi Jinping, reinforcing the strength of Pakistan-China ties. He commended Pakistan’s efforts in countering terrorism and fostering regional peace and stability.

The Chinese vice president assured continued support for Pakistan’s economic growth during CPEC’s second phase, especially in sectors like transportation, infrastructure, information technology, agriculture, and vocational training.
