KALAT: A local tribal elder was among four people killed when unidentified assailants ambushed their vehicle in Balochistan’s Kalat district on Saturday, officials confirmed.
According to police, the gun attack took place in the Sarband area of Mangochar Tehsil, where the attackers sprayed bullets at an SUV, leaving all four occupants dead on the spot. Levies personnel and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the bodies to a nearby hospital for medico-legal procedures. The victims were identified as tribal notable Shakirullah Langaw, Khairullah, Muhammad Karim, and Zahir.
Authorities said the gunmen managed to flee after the assault. A search operation has been launched in the area to track down those responsible, while a case has been registered and investigations are ongoing.
The latest incident comes just days after security forces killed four militants during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the same district, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The IBO, conducted on the night of November 1, 2025, targeted militants linked to the Indian proxy group “Fitna al-Hindustan.” Security forces engaged the suspects in an intense exchange of fire, resulting in the elimination of four terrorists and recovery of arms and ammunition.
The ISPR stated that the slain militants were involved in multiple acts of terrorism in the region. It added that sanitization operations are ongoing to clear the area of any remaining threats under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” campaign, aimed at eradicating foreign-sponsored militancy from Pakistan.
