ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday visited Cadet College Wana to commend Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel for foiling a planned terrorist assault.
Upon his arrival, Naqvi was received by IG Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (South), Major General Mehr Omar Khan. He met the officers and soldiers who led the operation, praising their swift and decisive action that prevented what he described as a tragedy on the scale of the APS Peshawar attack.
During his interaction with cadets and faculty members, the minister applauded their courage and composure in the face of danger. Security officials briefed him on the nature of the assault and the successful rescue mission that ensured the safety of hundreds of students.
Naqvi announced a comprehensive renovation plan for Cadet College Wana, noting that a secure and modern learning environment is essential for the region’s youth. He called the rescuing officers and soldiers “national heroes,” saying the country takes immense pride in their bravery and professionalism.
Reiterating Pakistan’s firm stance against terrorism, Naqvi warned that cross-border attacks would be met with resolute action. Addressing tribal elders, he said evidence indicates that the perpetrators of recent incidents including the attack on the Islamabad Judicial Complex have links to groups operating from Afghanistan, adding that locals are not involved in such acts.
The minister emphasized that Field Marshal Asim Munir has issued a clear directive: Pakistan will not negotiate with terrorists. Describing the attackers as “inhuman” and “devoid of any religious or moral values,” Naqvi said targeting children is among the worst crimes imaginable.
