ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter jets on Monday delivered a grand aerial reception to Jordan’s King Abdullah II as his aircraft entered Pakistani airspace for an official visit.
A combined six-ship formation comprising JF-17 Thunder and F-16 Falcon aircraft accompanied the Jordanian monarch’s plane, performing a distinguished aerial escort in honour of the visiting head of state. The formation leader presented a formal salute on behalf of Pakistan’s armed forces, underscoring the deep-rooted ties between the two nations.
The ceremonial fly-past not only showcased the PAF’s advanced operational capabilities but also highlighted the longstanding brotherhood and mutual respect shared between Pakistan and Jordan.
Extending aerial salutes to leaders of friendly nations remains a cherished military tradition in Pakistan. Earlier this year, in February, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye received similar honours as his aircraft was escorted by PAF JF-17 jets upon entering Pakistani airspace. His official reception was later held at Islamabad Airport, where he was welcomed by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and senior government officials.
