Tom Cruise celebrates first-ever Oscar honor after 45-year hollywood journey

WEB DESK: Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise has received his first Oscar after a remarkable 45-year film career. However, it was not for a specific performance in a film but an honorary Oscar awarded by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The honorary Oscar was presented to Cruise during the annual Governors Awards held in Los Angeles on Sunday. He also received a standing ovation that lasted a minute.

At 63 years old, Tom Cruise had been nominated four times for an Oscar over his illustrious career but had never won the award until now. Expressing his joy upon receiving the honorary accolade, Cruise said, “Making movies is not what I do; it’s who I am.”  He also thanked the actors, directors, and colleagues he has worked with over the past 45 years.

In addition to Tom Cruise, other recipients of the honorary Oscar included choreographer Debbie Allen, visionary production designer Wren T. Brown, and singer Dolly Parton.
