WASHINGTON: President Trump greeted the Crown Prince with a handshake, and both leaders exchanged welcomes. High-ranking American and Saudi officials were also present during the greeting.
Prior to the meeting, Trump and the Crown Prince observed a flypast of aircraft, after which they proceeded inside to the Oval Office for their discussions.
An interesting highlight is that Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of the Saudi football club Al-Nassr, is also present at the event.
According to U.S. officials, the talks are expected to cover enhanced defense cooperation between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure, and agreements on civilian nuclear energy. Multiple deals are anticipated, including Saudi Arabia’s pledge to invest approximately $600 billion in the United States.
President Trump has also expressed intentions to sell F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, Riyadh is seeking formal security guarantees from the U.S. This visit marks Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s first major trip to the U.S. since the 2018 murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
