WEB DESK: In Ranveer Singh’s new movie “Dhurandher” Bollywood superstar Sanjay Dutt will play Pakistnai brave Police officer Chaudhry Aslam while Bollywood Star Akshay Khanna will play the role of Pakistani criminal Rehman Dacoit.
The trailer of Ranveer Singh’s new film “Dhurandher” has sparked criticism not only in Pakistan but also within India, immediately after its release.
Indian filmmakers have once again presented an overly imaginative and far-from-reality story, attempting to portray Karachi’s Lyari area as a contentious zone. The film features real-life characters such as Chaudhry Aslam and Rahman Dacoit.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film shows Ranveer Singh as an Indian spy deployed in Lyari. The trailer’s depiction of Lyari surprised viewers, with many Indian fans calling it “unrealistic” and a “shameful propaganda.”
The film also stars Arjun Rampal as Major Iqbal, dubbed the “Angel of Death,” with claims that Pakistani politics operate without his approval.
Akshay Khanna is cast as Rahman Dacoit, given the title “Apex Predator”, while Sanjay Dutt appears as Karachi’s renowned counter-terror officer Chaudhry Aslam, portrayed as “The Jinn” in the film.
The trailer has raised numerous questions about the basis for depicting Lyari as a “Spy War Zone,” especially since, in reality, Rahman Dacoit and martyr Chaudhry Aslam were primarily involved in Karachi’s gang wars and police encounters. The story also makes vague references to incidents like the 1999
Indian social media users also criticized the trailer. Many commented that the film is a mixture of fake nationalism, inaccurate history, and an incoherent, fictional script. Some sarcastically joked that while making a sequel to Balakot, they somehow ended up in Lyari!
The criticism continues to grow, with many pointing out that due to a lack of good scripts in Bollywood, every historical figure is now being fictionalized and used for anti-Pakistan propaganda.
