WEB DESK: A drone strike near the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border has resulted in the death of three Chinese nationals, Tajik authorities confirmed on Thursday.
According to Tajik officials, the attack took place on the night of November 26 in a border area between the Shams al-Din Shahid district of Tajikistan’s Khatlon region and the Shahr-e Buzurg district of Badakhshan province in Afghanistan.
The Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement stating that a Chinese company’s employees were targeted in a drone attack south of the Tajik border, resulting in the deaths of three Chinese workers involved with the company.
The Ministry emphasized that Tajikistan is actively working to maintain peace, stability, and security along its border regions. However, it expressed concern over ongoing destabilizing activities by criminal groups operating within Afghanistan.
Tajik authorities strongly condemned the terrorist attack and urged Afghan officials to take effective measures to ensure security and stability at the shared border with Tajikistan.
According to foreign news agencies, militant groups within Afghanistan continue to operate in mountainous border areas, posing a threat to regional security.
