Pakistan asks Britain to hand over Shehbaz Akbar, Adil Raja

ISLAMABAD: A significant meeting took place in Islamabad between Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and British High Commissioner Jane Marriott. The discussions focused on Pakistan-UK relations, security cooperation, and a range of mutual interests.

The talks also addressed the issue of repatriating Pakistanis residing illegally in the UK. During the meeting, formal extradition documents for Shahzad Akbar and Adil Raja were presented to the British High Commissioner by the Government of Pakistan.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that both individuals are implicated in several cases in Pakistan and should be returned promptly. He also shared substantial evidence against Pakistani nationals abroad who are actively involved in spreading propaganda against the country and its institutions.

The minister underscored that while freedom of expression is upheld, fake news remains a critical concern globally, and no country can accept unfounded accusations or hostile campaigns initiated from outside its borders.

He expressed that British assistance in repatriating those engaged in anti-Pakistan propaganda would be greatly appreciated.

Mohsin Naqvi further mentioned that the formal extradition process is already underway through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Federal Interior Secretary Muhammad Khurram Agha and other key officials were also present at the meeting.
