PTI has never taken an anti-state position, says Gohar Ali

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali on Saturday reaffirmed that safeguarding national security is the party’s foremost priority, stressing that PTI’s narrative has never been directed against the state.

While speaking to reporters, he voiced concern over recent statements made during a press conference, saying he had consistently hoped for de-escalation and better understanding between political forces and state institutions. He regretted that both sides were being portrayed in negative terms. “It is deeply troubling when national institutions and political leaders accuse one another of being unstable or dangerous,” he said.

Barrister Gohar underlined that the country and its armed forces belong to every Pakistani and deserve collective respect. “Pakistan is for all of us, and so is the army. Our actions have reflected this, and they will continue to do so,” he added. He called on all stakeholders to show tolerance, build trust, and bridge existing divides.

Appealing for calm and cooperation, he said democratic forces must step up to defuse tensions. “Dialogue is the only way forward; confrontation will only deepen the crisis,” he noted.

He also referred to the role of certain non-stakeholders whom he said have worsened relations between PTI and state institutions. The PTI chief pointed out that the party’s founder and Bushra Bibi remain incarcerated, adding that allowing access to them could help ease the situation.

Warning against further instability, Barrister Gohar said the country cannot withstand prolonged unrest and polarization, urging all sides to work towards unity and national stability.
