Omani naval ships arrive in Karachi for joint exercise with Pakistan Navy

KARACHI: Two warships of the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO), AL RASIKH and AL SHINAS, have reached Karachi to participate in the 12th edition of the bilateral naval drill, Exercise THAMAR AL TAYYIB 2025 (TAT-2025).

On arrival, the Omani vessels were accorded a ceremonial welcome by senior Pakistan Navy officials, symbolizing the long-standing maritime cooperation between the two friendly countries. The Directorate General Public Relations (Navy) said the visit reflects the depth of defence ties between Pakistan and Oman.

As part of the exercise, crews and officers from both navies took part in a range of professional engagements, including discussions on naval operations, coordination mechanisms, and maritime strategy. These interactions aimed at enhancing mutual understanding and improving professional skills.

A key component of TAT-2025 is the joint sea phase, during which Pakistan Navy and Royal Navy of Oman units carried out coordinated drills and manoeuvres focused on strengthening maritime security. The exercise is designed to boost interoperability and preparedness to effectively counter regional maritime threats.

Held annually, Exercise THAMAR AL TAYYIB continues to highlight the expanding defence partnership between Pakistan and Oman and their shared resolve to maintain peace and security in the region’s maritime domain.
