Eight people walked on burning embers to prove innocence

MUSAKHEL: In a startling development, eight individuals were seen walking barefoot across smoldering coals in MusaKhel, allegedly to clear themselves of theft accusations. The footage, which has now gained widespread attention on social media.

Sources indicate that the ritual was carried out in line with local tribal traditions, and subsequent investigations declared all eight participants to be innocent. However, some community elders accused shepherd Gulam Mohammad Nandani of orchestrating the fiery ordeal.Officials stated that the incident was brought to the notice of government authorities, but no official response or action has been initiated so far, highlighting a lack of official intervention.

The circulating video shows the participants walking across glowing embers without footwear, igniting outrage among viewers online.While tribal leaders defend the practice as a customary tradition, the public’s reaction has raised serious concerns about the legality and safety of such rituals. An inquiry into the incident is ongoing, but authorities have yet to comment on any disciplinary or judicial steps.

In a separate incident, a police constable was placed under suspension after a viral video surfaced showing him physically assaulting a woman believed to be intoxicated in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA).The incident occurred on Saba Avenue, where the woman was causing a commotion in the middle of the street, shouting, creating chaos, and obstructing traffic. A patrol vehicle from Darakhshan police station arrived to manage the situation. 

During the intervention, a confrontation erupted between the woman and Constable Nadeem, resulting in both exchanging slaps. The officer then forcibly dragged her away from the road.The footage quickly circulated online, prompting widespread criticism of the police’s rough handling of the woman. Many questioned why female officers were not deployed to handle such situations.

Following the public backlash, authorities suspended Constable Nadeem. The woman was taken to the police station for legal processing, and her medical examination was conducted. Police officials said that further investigations are ongoing.
