‘Fearless, not careless’ formula behind Pakistan U-19 Asia Cup victory, says head coach

WEB DESK: Pakistan Under-19 head coach Shahid Anwer hailed his team’s resounding victory over the India Under-19 cricket team in the final of the Under-19 Asia Cup on Sunday, attributing their success to a mindset of playing “fearless but not reckless” cricket.

In a dominant display at the final held in Dubai, the Pakistan Under-19 side showcased their prowess, overwhelming their rivals as the Indian bowlers struggled to counteract Pakistan’s clinical batting performance.

The match’s standout moment came courtesy of a sensational innings by top-order batter Sameer Minhas, who smashed a stunning 172 runs off just 113 balls. His knock featured 17 boundaries and nine massive sixes, earning him the Player of the Match award while setting the foundation for Pakistan’s commanding win.

After the game, Minhas credited the team’s fearless approach emphasized by his coach, highlighting how it provided clarity and boosted their self-belief throughout the tournament.

In recognition of this extraordinary achievement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a cash prize of Rs10 million for each member of the victorious Under-19 squad, further amplifying celebrations of Pakistan’s triumph on the Asian stage.
