LAHORE: Maulana Fazlur Rahim Ashrafi, head of Jamia Ashrafia and a prominent Islamic scholar, passed away after a prolonged illness, drawing condolences from political and religious leaders across the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep grief over the demise of Maulana Ashrafi, describing him as a renowned Islamic scholar, eminent Muhaddith and a distinguished religious figure who rendered invaluable services for the promotion of religious education.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also expressed sorrow over the passing of the head of Jamia Ashrafia and conveyed her condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family.
Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party President Abdul Aleem Khan offered condolences to Maulana Ashrafi’s family, saying his religious services and contributions to Islamic learning would always be remembered. He added that the light of knowledge kindled by the late scholar would continue to guide future generations.
Meanwhile, Mufti Muhammad Zubair termed Maulana Ashrafi’s death an irreparable loss to the scholarly and spiritual world, describing him as a compassionate and dignified personality whose services to religious education would remain a lasting legacy.
