KARACHI: Gold and silver prices in Pakistan and globally surged to record highs on Friday.
Driven by central bank purchases and geopolitical tensions, both metals saw significant increases in local and international markets.
The All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association (APSGJA) reported a Rs9,100 jump in 24-karat gold per tola, now at Rs514,662. Ten grams rose by Rs7,802 to Rs441,239, while 22-karat gold for 10 grams climbed by Rs7,152 to Rs404,483.
Globally, gold prices increased by $91 per ounce, reaching $4,923, fueled by economic uncertainty and fluctuating currencies.
Silver prices also hit new peaks. In Pakistan, 24-karat silver per tola rose by Rs372 to Rs10,275, with 10 grams up by Rs319 to Rs8,809.
