TEHRAN: Iran has carried out the execution of a man charged with espionage for Israel. According to the Iranian judiciary, Hamid Reza Sabet Esmaeilpour was detained in April 2025 on allegations of espionage on behalf of Israel.
Officials confirmed that evidence proved Hamid Reza Sabet Esmaeilpour supplied classified information to Mossad. He was also convicted of acquiring explosive materials for sabotage and transporting vehicles filled with explosives. Following the verdict, he was executed by hanging.
It is important to note that in the past year, Iran has seen a marked rise in death sentences imposed on individuals convicted of spying for Israel.
