Aus vs Pak T20i; Zampa’s four-fer restricts PAK to 168/8 in 20 overs

WEB DESK: In the first T20 match between Pakistan and Australia, Pakistan opted to bat first but managed to post a modest total of 168/8 in their allotted 20 overs.

The innings began disastrously for Pakistan as Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed on the very first delivery by Xavier Bartlett. However, Saim Ayub and skipper Salman Agha steadied the ship with a solid half-century partnership for the second wicket. Ayub’s promising innings came to an end at 40 runs when Adam Zampa broke the partnership. Zampa struck again in his following over, dismissing Salman Agha, who contributed 39 runs. Babar Azam struggled to get going and departed after a labored 24-run innings, falling victim to Zampa as well.

From there, Pakistan’s wickets continued to tumble. Adam Zampa was the star performer with the ball, finishing with impressive figures of 4/24 in his four overs. Xavier Bartlett chipped in with two wickets, while debutant Maehli Beardman claimed two wickets in the final over to wrap up the innings.

This series serves as the final preparation for both teams ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026, which is set to commence on September 7 in India and Sri Lanka.
