Sindh govt implements mandatory HIV, TB, and Hepatitis screening for deported persons

KARACHI: The Sindh government has introduced a mandatory screening policy for HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and hepatitis for individuals deported and returning to Pakistan.

To support this initiative, the authorities have deployed rapid testing kits, X-ray machines, and trained healthcare staff at Jinnah International Airport.

According to the Sindh Health Department, approximately 150 to 200 deported individuals arrive at the airport each day.

The department stated that the absence of systematic health checks for deportees increases the risk of disease transmission, underscoring the importance of enforced screening to curb the spread of infectious diseases.
