Operation Shaban: Security forces eliminate 83 terrorists in ongoing Balochistan offensive

QUETTA: Pakistan’s security forces have killed four more suspected terrorists during the ongoing Operation Shaban in Balochistan, bringing the total number of militants eliminated in the operation to 83, according to security sources.

The operation, involving the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan, and police, is continuing across different parts of the province. Officials said security forces are carrying out coordinated aerial and ground operations to target militant hideouts.

Security sources stated that the latest action resulted in the deaths of four militants, adding that the operation has inflicted heavy losses on terrorist groups active in the region.

According to officials, a total of 121 terrorists have been killed since July 5 in Operation Shaban and other intelligence-based operations conducted across Balochistan.

Authorities said the offensive will continue until militant networks operating in the province are completely dismantled.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the Pakistan Army, FC Balochistan, and police for their role in the counterterrorism campaign. In a statement, he praised the security personnel for their determination and bravery, saying their efforts had thwarted attempts by militants to destabilize the region.

Naqvi said the sacrifices made by the country’s security forces in restoring peace to Balochistan would be remembered, adding that the government remains committed to eliminating terrorism and denying militants any safe haven.

Earlier, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that 42 people were martyred in three separate attacks in Balochistan. According to the military spokesperson, the victims included 11 soldiers, 27 police personnel, and four civilians, while the attacks were attributed to Fitna al Khwarij (FAK) and Fitna Al-Hindustan (FAH).
