WEB DESK: In a move to bolster its healthcare workforce and tackle nationwide doctor shortages, Canada has introduced new immigration policies that simplify the process for qualified foreign physicians, including those from Pakistan, to work and settle in the country.
Canadian immigration officials announced that eligible doctors from Pakistan and other nations will now have access to five distinct pathways toward obtaining permanent residency. These pathways include the popular Express Entry system as well as several provincial and regional nominee programs.
Under the updated policy, doctors nominated by a Canadian province or territory will benefit from accelerated processing of their work permits, with applications being reviewed within just 14 days. This fast-tracking aims to enable medical professionals to start practicing in Canada while their permanent residence applications are still being processed.
An important aspect of the new rules is the ability for applicants to include their spouses and dependent children in their immigration applications, facilitating family reunification and smooth relocation.
Pakistani doctors interested in exploring opportunities in Canada are encouraged to review their eligibility criteria and program details on the official Canadian immigration website. This initiative marks a significant step toward addressing healthcare staffing needs and welcoming skilled medical professionals from abroad.
