ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that Razia Noreen, a nurse at Pims who heroically rescued a newborn amid the hospital fire, will be awarded a civil honor in recognition of her bravery.
During a meeting with Noreen at his office, the prime minister commended her courageous act, stating that her bravery would be remembered in history. The incident occurred on August 26 when a devastating fire broke out in the hospital’s gynecology ward, resulting in the tragic death of 14 infants out of 15.
“The nation salutes Razia Noreen for her valor and dedication,” PM Shehbaz said, emphasizing that the entire country was honoring her heroic efforts. He also praised her for saving a newborn’s life during the chaos.
The prime minister announced that Noreen would be awarded the Tamgha-i-Khidmat on Pakistan Day, March 23. Additionally, he reiterated that he had previously declared a reward of Rs10 million for her.
Addressing the incident, Shehbaz described the fire as a tragic event and assured that strict action has been taken against those responsible for the disaster.
