NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has voiced serious concern over continued violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque and attempts to undermine the established historical and legal status quo in Occupied East Jerusalem.
He expressed these concerns while attending a joint ministerial meeting of the Arab League and the Group of Four Islamic Countries on Jerusalem on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm support for the Hashemite Custodianship of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
He also reiterated Pakistan’s support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and called for the creation of an independent, sovereign and geographically contiguous Palestinian state along the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
Separately, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar held a cordial meeting with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on the sidelines of the UNGA session.
The two sides discussed issues of mutual interest and the latest regional developments, while reaffirming their resolve to further deepen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Jordan.
