KARACHI: A toddler has died while receiving treatment for monkeypox in Karachi, bringing Sindh’s reported death toll from the virus to 12 this year.
The child, who lived in Malir, was moved from a private hospital to the Government Infectious Diseases Hospital near NIPA several days ago. A hospital spokesperson said the toddler died during treatment.
Sindh has recorded 98 monkeypox cases so far this year, according to the report. Sources alleged the child contracted the infection because of negligence at the private facility. The hospital was later sealed following recommendations from the Sindh Healthcare Commission.
