LAHORE: PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi was injured after becoming dizzy and falling while walking inside his barrack at Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail, his lawyer, Barrister Taimoor Malik, said. Qureshi hurt his knee and arm, Malik added.
Jail authorities have taken blood samples for testing at Shaukat Khanum Hospital. His lawyer said an application would be filed seeking a CT scan and further treatment on the advice of Dr Yasmin Rashid.
Qureshi remains in custody over other cases linked to the May 9, 2023, unrest—not the cipher case, in which his conviction was overturned. His lawyer has said he has secured acquittal or bail in numerous cases, but pending bail proceedings have prevented his release.
An anti-terrorism court has extended his interim bail in several May 9 cases, including those concerning Jinnah House and Askari Tower, until November 6, 2026.
