TEHRAN: Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and army say five oil tankers and a tugboat caught fire in separate incidents around the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian officials attributed the fires to naval mines and said some vessels were using routes they considered unauthorized.
The claims have not been independently confirmed by maritime authorities. Separately, the UK Maritime Trade Operations centre reported that a tanker was struck by two unidentified projectiles about 50 nautical miles off Qatar, but gave no details about damage or casualties.
