ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) adjourned the hearing on petition filed against the removal of PTI leader Omar Sarfraz Cheema from the post of governor till Tuesday.
IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah on Friday heard the petition of Omar Sarfraz Cheema with objections from the Registrar’s Office. Omar Sarfraz Cheema appeared in the court along with lawyer Babar Awan.
Lawyer Babar Awan, while giving arguments, said that the Registrar’s Office has raised two objections. First objection was a Whatsapp copy of the dismissal notification has been affixed. The second objection was raised that it does not fall under the jurisdiction of this court.
The notification was not given to us so could not be attached, he said.
The Chief Justice remarked that what is the authority of the President and the bindings on them, it is all decided. This is a parliamentary system of government, not a presidential system of government.
The Chief Justice added that the governor has been de-notified by the federation.
Later, the Islamabad High Court constituted a larger bench on Omar Sarfraz’s request and adjourned the hearing of the case till Tuesday.
