Occupied Al-Quds: Up to 400 people were killed or injured in the Israeli air raid on the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, according to Hamas.

The Ministry of Health said at least 50 people were killed in the attack that triggered a global outrage.

The death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip has climbed to 8,525, include 3,542 children and 2,187 women, the Health Ministry in the blockaded enclave said Tuesday.

Palestinian fighters and Israeli forces are engaged in clashes south of the Zeitoun neighbourhood, southeast of Gaza City.

The Israeli military said that nine soldiers had died in Gaza fighting, without immediately providing details on where or when.

The Israeli military confirmed on Wednesday that nine of its soldiers were killed in combat in northern Gaza, and an additional four soldiers sustained serious injuries.

According to Israeli dailies, including Yedioth Ahronoth and Maariv, the Israeli army spokesperson said nine soldiers were killed in Gaza Strip combat on Tuesday, while four others sustained severe injuries.

“Nine fighters from the Givati Brigade were killed in an anti-tank rocket attack in Gaza,” said Maariv without giving further details.

This week the Israeli army has expanded its air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip, which has been under relentless airstrikes since the Palestinian resistance group Hamas launched a surprise offensive against Israel on Oct. 7.

More than 1,538 Israelis have been killed in the conflict.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected growing calls for a cease-fire, saying it would be a “surrender” to Hamas.

Bolivia has cut diplomatic relations with Israel to condemn the Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip. Additionally, Minister of the Presidency Maria Nela Prada announced the country would send humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Two other Latin American countries – Colombia and Chile – have also recalled their ambassadors for consultations to condemn civilian deaths in Gaza and to call for a ceasefire. More than 8,500 people, mostly women and children, have been killed in relentless Israeli bombing since October 7.

Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates issued individual statements denouncing the strikes on the Jabalia camp.
