KARACHI: Renowned Urdu Poet, Ibne Insha’s 46th Death Anniversary Being Observed Today.

Ibne Insha’s real name was Sher Muhammad Khan and he was born in Jalandhur district of Indian Punjab in 1927 and migrated to Pakistan later.

In 1978, he was honored with the Pride of Performance Award.

His poetry possessed simplicity, it resonated with profound meaning. However, it was his witty poetry and columns that truly catapulted him to fame. His admirers fondly recall his masterpieces even today, with his most famous ghazal, ‘Insha Ji Uttho,’ standing as a modern-day classic. Beyond his poetic prowess, he was esteemed as one of Urdu’s finest humourists.

Ibn-e-Insha’s notable poetic works include “Chand Nagar” and “Dil-e-Wehshi,” while his travelogues comprise “Awara Gard Ki Diary,” “Dunya Gol Hey,” “Ibn-e-Batoota Kay Taqub Main,” “Chaltay Ho To Cheen Ko Chaliye,” and “Nagri Nagri Phira Musafir.” Among his humorous books are “Khumar-e-Gandum” and “Urdu Ki Aakhri Kitaab,” and he also compiled a collection of letters titled “Khat Insha Jee Kay.”

Ibn-e-Insha died this day in 1978 and was buried in Karachi
