Asia’s wealthiest man Ambani spend $152M to son’s pre-wedding festivities

NEW DELHI: Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates and Ivanka Trump were among the high-profile international figures who jetted to India for Anant Ambani’s extravagant pre-wedding party, which wrapped up Sunday.

Mukesh Ambani, Asia’s wealthiest individual, orchestrated a three-day pre-wedding celebration that incurred a cost of 120 million pounds (approximately US$151.9 million) for his son Anant and fiancée Radhika Merchant.

Ambani is the youngest son of Mukesh Ambani, who has an estimated fortune of $117 billion, according to Forbes. The 28-year-old serves as a director at an energy business operated by Reliance, the Indian conglomerate founded by his grandfather.

The Three days weekend’s festivities took place in Jamnagar, in the western state of Gujarat, close to Reliance’s main oil refinery.

On Wednesday, the Ambani family hosted a communal dinner for more than 50,000 villagers.

Drawing attendance from globally renowned personalities – including Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg, former U.S. President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump, and Microsoft founder Bill Gates, the extravagant event’s catering, handled by a top-tier hotel group in India, is believed to have cost about 20 million pounds.

According to the Sources pop and R&B singer Rihanna’s appearance at the event, which took place in the Indian city of Jamnagar, was priced at 5 million pounds.

Guests were served 500 dishes created by around 100 chefs.

The guest list also includes Mohammed Bin Jassim al Thani, the prime minister of Qatar; Stephen Harper, former Canadian prime minister; and Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema.
