Occupied Alquds: Witnesses recalled the horrifying scene of an Israeli airstrike on a displacement camp in Gaza’s Rafah that triggered a fire that killed at least 45 Palestinians.
They said the place was totally burnt, with the remains of bodies scattered everywhere. The missiles hit the heart of the camp, destroying cars, tents and injuring many children, the elderly, men, and women, many of whom would have to have their limbs amputated.
“Suddenly, a missile fell and lit up the area in red. We were all screaming and checking who among us had died and who was still alive,” said Malak Felfel, a witness.
“The bodies of innocent children were torn to pieces. It is not fair for this to happen to us. Even our food was mixed with blood. Nothing survived the occupation’s aggression,” said Nout Hamouda, another witness.
This particular area was designated by the Israeli forces as a safe area before the strike. People in these makeshift camps sought safety, hoping to remain unharmed.
