MULTAN: The Pakistan People’s Party leader Ali Qasim Gilani has won the NA-148 by-election.

As per unofficial results from 275 polling stations, Ali Qasim Gilani gain 83,250 votes while his opponent, Barrister Taimur Altaf Malik gain 51,572 votes.

Talking to the media, newly elected MNA Ali Qasim Gilani expressed his gratitude to the voters. “I am very happy with the victory, I am grateful to the people of the constituency who supported me. I will fight for the people of my constituency.”

Ali Qasim Gilani highlighted his commitment to following in the footsteps of his father, who has served the constituency for over four decades. “Yousaf Raza Gilani served this constituency for 40 years. I will serve the people of the constituency in the footsteps of my father for the next five years.

It should be noted that Ali Qasim Gilani is the son of Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, who previously held the NA-148 seat after winning in the general elections, However, he later resigned from the National Assembly, Paving the way for this by-election.
