RAWALPINDI: Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir has took responsibility for the treatment of two children sent back from India
According to Shahid Ahmed, doctors had scheduled surgery for April 23, but on April 24, he received a call from the Indian “Foreigners Regional Registration Office” instructing him to leave India within 48 hours.
Shahid Ahmed said he had secured a visa to India for his children’s treatment after struggling for seven years. He stated that during the treatment process, the Indian government’s act of sending them back to Pakistan was unethical and inhumane. He expressed gratitude to the Army Chief for immediately providing medical care for his children, saying that the treatment at AFIC (Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology), Rawalpindi, has exceeded his expectations.
Dr. Mahboob Sultan from AFIC said he is currently treating two children , Abdullah, aged 9, and Mansa, aged 7. Both children were born with heart defects. They have holes in their hearts and weak pulmonary arteries. Their surgeries will be done in stages.
Dr. Mahboob Sultan added that, in his opinion, the children do not need to go abroad for treatment. “We have successfully performed surgeries on many children with similar conditions before,” he said.
