Web desk: Bangladesh’s Anti-Corruption Commission has filed 80,000-crore (Takka) corruption case against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid and her family. It has been decided to investigate the allegations.
According to the reports, in allegations 5 Billion Dollar (59 thousand crores Bengali Takka) in nuclear power plant corruption allegation are included.
While the corruption in other projects including this project has been estimated at 80 thousand crores
According to Dhaka Tribune’s report, the accused include former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, her son Sujeeb Wajid Joy and her niece Tulip Siddique, among other family members.
The allegations against the former prime minister’s family also include irregularities in projects like Rooppur and Asharyan.
Reports on the corruption of Sheikh Hasina’s family in the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant appeared in several newspapers on August 19, which were later cited in the writ petition.
These reports, citing information from the Global Defense Corporation, alleged that Sheikh Hasina, Sujeeb Wajid Joy and Tulip Siddique embezzled $5 billion through a foreign bank, while Sheikh Hasina received $5 billion from the Rooppur project.
The Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is the largest and most expensive project in Bangladesh with an estimated cost of $12.65 billion.
