DUBAI: Sheikh Muhammad bin Rashid has approved the design for the new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport, marking the start of its construction with a monumental investment of AED 128 billion.
Once completed, Al Maktoum International Airport will boast the largest capacity in the world, handling up to 260 million passengers annually. This will make it five times the size of the current Dubai International Airport. In the coming years, all operations at Dubai International will be transferred to the new airport, which will feature 400 aircraft gates and five parallel runways. Cutting-edge aviation technologies, never before seen in the sector, will be integrated into its operations.
Surrounding the airport, a thriving city will be developed in Dubai South, expected to house over a million people. The area will become a global hub for leading companies in logistics and air transport. This ambitious project is designed with future generations in mind, ensuring sustained and stable development for years to come. Dubai is poised to become the world’s premier airport, port, urban center, and global crossroads.
