WEB DESK: India and Pakistan have agreed to a ceasefire in military action from 5 pm on Saturday, May 10, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said in a briefing.
The director general of military operations for Pakistan called his Indian counterpart at 15:35 hours on Saturday and they agreed that both sides would stop all firing on the ground, in the air and by the sea with effect from 17:00 hours, Misri said.
Instructions have been given on both sides to give effect to this understanding, he added. The two sides will speak again on 12 May.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also said in a social media post:
“India and Pakistan have today worked out an understanding on stoppage of firing and military action. India has consistently maintained a firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. It will continue to do so.”
