Intense heatwave continues across Sindh as temperatures near 45°C

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted severe hot weather across several cities of Sindh, with temperatures expected to climb as high as 45°C on Thursday in Jacobabad, Sukkur, Larkana, and Hyderabad. Meanwhile, Khairpur District is likely to record temperatures around 44°C.

Karachi continues to face hot and humid conditions, where the mercury is expected to reach nearly 36°C. Weather officials said most parts of Sindh remain under the influence of a prolonged hot and dry spell, with intense heat affecting multiple regions.

Medical experts have urged the public to take precautionary measures during the extreme weather. Citizens have been advised to stay indoors during peak daytime hours, avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, and maintain hydration by consuming plenty of water and other fluids.

The ongoing heatwave has already had serious consequences, with at least 14 deaths reported in Karachi during the opening days of May due to extreme temperatures.

In contrast, rainfall in Lahore has brought relief from the recent heat, leaving the city under partly cloudy skies today.

The Met Office has also forecast rain, gusty winds, and thunderstorms in parts of southern Punjab, northern Balochistan, and some areas of Kashmir.
