Islamabad District Administration bans loudspeakers (Except Azan, Friday Sermons) and enforces multiple restrictions

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad district authorities have imposed a ban on the use of loudspeakers, sound amplifiers, and sound systems within the federal capital, permitting their use only for Azan and Friday sermons. Additional orders issued by Additional District Magistrate Sahibzada Muhammad Yousaf strictly prohibit the utilization of cassette players, CD/DVD players, and other devices for delivering objectionable or sectarian speeches and sermons across Islamabad.

The administration has also prohibited the use of holy words or Quranic verses on rough papers, newspapers, or for packaging purposes. Furthermore, the sale, purchase, storage, and use of crackers and fireworks are now forbidden. Carrying, displaying, or showing firearms remains restricted to members of the armed forces, Pakistan Rangers, police, and paramilitary personnel.

Boating activities on Rawal Dam and Simly Dam are also banned. Unauthorized sale of petrol at local agencies, as well as the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, is prohibited. The district authorities have also banned the extraction of stones through blasting or crushing operations.

Distributing handbills, pamphlets, posters, and wall chalking aimed at inciting sectarian or societal divisions is not allowed. Public gatherings, processions, and demonstrations involving five or more individuals within Islamabad’s limits are now prohibited.

The district administration has further ordered the prevention of water accumulation in scrap yards, tires, and artificial containers to reduce mosquito breeding. These measures will remain in effect for a period of two months.
