WEB DESK: Following the announcement of a ceasefire in Gaza yesterday, the Israeli Cabinet was supposed to approve the agreement today, but as of now, the Cabinet has not approved the ceasefire deal.
According to reports, the Israeli Cabinet meeting scheduled for today has not yet taken place, and the Israeli Prime Minister has accused Hamas of backing out of the deal at the last minute.
A Hamas leader, speaking to foreign media, stated that Hamas stands by its position on the ceasefire.
Earlier, following the ceasefire announcement, disagreements within the Israeli government coalition became apparent, with Netanyahu’s far-right allies threatening to leave the government.
In the ceasefire and hostage release agreement for Gaza, Netanyahu’s unexpected flexibility had caused concern among Israel’s right-wing factions.
It has also been reported that the Gaza ceasefire deal was made possible after intense pressure on Netanyahu from U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s Middle East representative, Steven Wittekopf.
Meanwhile, despite the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, Israeli attacks are still ongoing, and since the ceasefire announcement, 70 Palestinians have been martyred in Israeli airstrikes.
