PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has termed recent reports of the deaths of 100 children in the Kurram district as “fabricated and baseless.”
A spokesperson for the provincial health department stated that investigations into the claims revealed no evidence supporting the reported fatalities. “There is no truth to these claims. We urge the public to rely on verified information and avoid spreading misinformation,” the spokesperson added.
The initial reports, which surfaced on social media and some local outlets, alleged that the children succumbed to illnesses linked to inadequate healthcare facilities in the region. However, officials assert that measures are in place to address healthcare challenges in Kurram.
The KP government reaffirmed its commitment to improving healthcare access in underserved areas and urged media outlets to practice responsible reporting.
