KARACHI: The Northern Bypass Cattle Market, known as Asia’s largest livestock hub, has entered its 15th day, drawing a growing number of visitors each day as Eid-ul-Adha approaches.
Multiple blocks within the market are now filled with a wide variety of sacrificial animals, including cows, bulls, goats, calves, heifers, and camels. These animals are arriving in large numbers via trucks and trailers from across Pakistan, including regions such as Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, and remote areas of the country.
Long lines of vehicles transporting livestock have been seen both inside and around the market premises, indicating a steady increase in supply. Notably, the Kashmir and Punjab blocks are now densely packed with animals.
Both VIP and general blocks showcase an impressive range of animals of various breeds and colors, with weights ranging from two to ten maunds. Buying and selling activity between traders and customers has been ongoing since the market’s opening day.
Local residents began flocking to the market early Saturday morning, eager to select their preferred sacrificial animals in time for the upcoming festival.
