ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday has rejected nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Pervaiz Rashid submitted for the Senate polls.
According to details, the PML-N leader has decided to file an appeal against the ECP decision.
The ECP’s returning officer rejected his papers on the premise that he has not paid millions of rupees he owes the Punjab House. A total of six objections were raised on his nomination for a Senate seat.
The commission overruled five of the objections but rejected his papers over non-payment of Rs9.5 million dues.
Earlier in the day, ECP had approved nomination papers of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and joint candidate of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) for Senate elections, Yousaf Raza Gillani.
While announcing the reserved verdict, the returning officer had rejected the objections raised by PTI leader Fareed Rehman and allowed the former Prime Minister (PM) to contest the elections.
