PTI’s Asad Qaiser reveals demands to govt

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Speaker of the National Assembly, Asad Qaiser, has stated that three key points were presented to the government during negotiations.

While speaking to the media in Peshawar, Asad Qaiser said, “The misuse of power is becoming a part of history. People perceive the cases against us as the worst kind of political victimization. Isn’t it clearly stated in the Constitution that every citizen has the right to peaceful protest?”

The former Speaker expressed disappointment over trials and decisions made by military courts, adding, “The European Union and the UK government have expressed concerns regarding these trials in military courts. Our struggle is for the supremacy of the Constitution and law in the country, and we will not step back from it.”

He further added, “Television channels are running one-sided propaganda against PTI. Due to the country’s economic and political situation, we have provided the government with a path forward. We are determined to handle the country’s affairs according to the Constitution and law. As a responsible political party, we aim to bring the country out of crisis.”

Asad Qaiser revealed that PTI presented three demands to the government:

  1. An end to lawlessness in the country.
  2. The release of PTI’s founder and other political prisoners.
  3. A judicial inquiry into the incidents of May 9 and November 26.

The PTI leader remarked, “Conduct a survey on the cases against Imran Khan, and 99% of people will deem these cases baseless. We are not seeking any concessions; these actions are simply unlawful.”

It is noteworthy that the first round of talks between the government and the opposition took place yesterday, with the next round scheduled for January 2.
