Islamabad: The Supreme Court on Monday announcing the reserved verdict annulled the Lahore High Court (LHC) verdict over formation of the election tribunals in Punjab.
The SC five member bench headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Justice Amin Uddin, Justice Jamal Mandokhel, Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan, and Justice Aqeel Abbassi heard the case.
Chief Justice pronounced the brief judgement reading the verdict .The SC has accepted the appeal of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) .
The SC pronounced the verdict with a majority of 5-0.Justice Jamal Mandokhail and Justice Aqeel Abbassi have written additional notes.
The SC also annulled the notification of registrar of the LHC regarding appointment of justice of 12 June.
The court in its verdict said that the LHC single bench judgement can’t be presented as the judicial precedent while the High Court judge didn’t keep in mind not holding of the meeting between the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and Chief Justice.
If he were keep in mind not holding of the meeting then he would have not been given such verdict.
