Two alleged Nigerian nationals held in Anmol Pinky narcotics probe

LAHORE: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has detained two foreign nationals in Punjab as part of the ongoing investigation into the widely discussed Anmol Pinky narcotics case, according to media reports on Friday.

Sources revealed that the arrested men are suspected to be Nigerian nationals allegedly linked to a drug trafficking ring operating in Lahore. Investigators reportedly expanded the probe after examining data obtained from Anmol Pinky’s mobile phone.

Officials believe the two suspects may have connections with an international drug network tied to the case.

Earlier this month, Anmol alias Pinky was apprehended during a joint operation carried out by police and a civilian intelligence agency at her apartment in Garden area. She was booked in cases involving narcotics possession and an illegal weapon.

The investigation has since broadened, with authorities compiling details of police personnel allegedly connected to the network through bribery and financial benefits.

Inquiry sources claim that around a dozen officers, including some linked to Karachi’s South Zone police, are suspected of receiving regular payments from the group. However, investigators said no evidence has yet emerged against officials from the Special Investigation Unit (SIU).

Meanwhile, police are preparing another round of interrogation of a suspect identified as Sameer, who is believed to have ties with the alleged network. Authorities are also expected to request an extension in his physical remand from the court.
