ISLAMABAD: The students of the Physiotherapy Department at Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU) observed the World Physiotherapy Day with great enthusiasm and zeal.

The World Physiotherapy Day is observed on September 8 every year. The focus for this year’s World PT Day is low back pain (LBP) and the role of physiotherapy in its management and prevention.

A function was organized by the students of the department at Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi to mark the occasion, which was attended by faculty members and students of the department. On the occasion, the students vowed to carry forward the legacy of physiotherapy and make treatment more accessible and affordable for the masses.

Speaking on the occasion, experts highlighted the importance of physiotherapy in modern healthcare. They emphasized the need for physiotherapists to stay updated with the latest techniques and technologies to provide quality care to patients.

They also praised the students for their efforts in organizing the event and encouraged them to continue working hard to achieve their goals.
The function was attended by a large number of students and faculty members, who appreciated the efforts of the organizers.

It is pertinent to mention here that LBP is the leading cause of disability globally. 619 million people experienced LBP in 2020, that’s one in thirteen people. LBP can be experienced at any age, and almost everyone will experience it at some time in their lives. However, it only becomes chronic (lasting more than 3 months) for a minority.
