The National Constitution Day being observed today

Islamabad: The National Constitution Day is being celebrated today.

Two years ago on the occasion of Golden Jubilee of the Constitution, the National Assembly (NA) unanimously had approved a resolution to declare April 10 as .

According to the resolution, April 10 will be celebrated throughout the country every year as National Constitution Day, which will be used to create awareness of the Constitution and its importance among people.

Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday called for political unity to uphold democratic values, marking April 10 as Constitu­tion Day in commemoration of the 1973 Consti­tution’s adoption.

Speaking at a commemorative event, the Speak­er said April 10, 1973, represented a historic mo­ment when political leaders put aside their dif­ferences to adopt a consensus Constitution that continues to guide the nation. “The supremacy of the Constitution, rule of law, and democratic con­tinuity are essential for Pakistan’s development and stability,” he said.

Sadiq praised the Constitution’s role in en­suring public rights, institutional balance, and national cohesion. He paid tribute to the mem­bers of the 1973 Assembly for establishing the federal and democratic framework that still governs the country.

Gilani congratulates nation on constitution day

Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani extended congratulations to the nation on Constitution Day, marking the adoption of the unanimous 1973 Constitution on April 10.

He described the 1973 Constitution as a landmark achievement and paid tribute to all political leaders who prioritized the nation’s interests to establish a lasting democratic order.

Gilani said that Constitution Day is a powerful reminder of the need for unity and collective efforts toward national development.

He called upon all schools of thought to join hands in formulating a unified strategy for strengthening national cohesion and democratic values.
