FO Condemns India’s ‘Childish’ Approach in Distorting COAS Munir’s Comments, Propagating ‘Nuclear Blackmail’ Narrative

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Foreign Office has strongly criticized India for misrepresenting Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir’s recent remarks made during his visit to the United States. The FO spokesperson described India’s portrayal as an immature attempt to distort facts and twist statements to serve its own narrative.

During his second US visit in less than two months, COAS Munir engaged with senior political and military officials and addressed the Pakistani community in Florida. He also attended a farewell event for U.S. Central Command Commander General Michael Kurilla.

Indian media quoted sources claiming that Munir warned, “We are a nuclear nation. If we think we are going down, we’ll take half the world down with us,” sparking outrage. India’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal accused Pakistan of “nuclear sabre-rattling,” criticizing the remarks as irresponsible, especially since they were reportedly made in a “friendly third country.”

In response, Pakistan’s Foreign Office dismissed these claims as baseless and out of context. Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan emphasized that India’s narrative of “nuclear blackmail” is a misleading and self-serving distortion. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance as a responsible nuclear state, highlighting its robust command and control system under civilian oversight.

Khan further criticized India’s aggressive rhetoric, calling it reckless and lacking evidence, and condemned its attempts to involve third parties to pressure Pakistan. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace, emphasizing that the country always exercises restraint and discipline in its nuclear policy.

Pakistan’s FO made clear that any aggression or violation of sovereignty would be met with a prompt and decisive response, placing responsibility for any escalation firmly on India. The spokesperson concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful conduct and responsible international engagement, despite India’s provocations
