ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced on Friday that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will resume its flights to the United Kingdom starting September 2025.
During a press briefing in Islamabad, Ishaq Dar shared that flights from Pakistan to Manchester are scheduled to recommence in September, with an anticipated frequency of three to four flights per week. He also highlighted the strong public interest and excitement surrounding the return of direct air links to the United Kingdom.
Earlier reports indicated that PIA has made notable progress in preparing to restart operations to Britain. A two-member PIA delegation has traveled to Manchester to evaluate arrangements ahead of the airline’s resumption of flights. The team includes Chief Operating Officer Khurram Mushtaq and General Manager Coordination Zulqarnain Mehdi.
Sources revealed that PIA is preparing to operate its first flight to the UK following the easing of restrictions on its British operations. The delegation is expected to submit a detailed report assessing the logistical and operational readiness for the launch.Initially, PIA plans to run four weekly flights connecting Islamabad to Manchester. Future expansion plans include gradually adding routes to London and Birmingham as part of the airline’s broader strategy to enhance international connectivity.
