NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to the Palestinian cause during a high-level session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and an international gathering co-hosted by Saudi Arabia and France, held in New York.
Speaking at the OIC forum, Dar highlighted the timeless values espoused by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), such as justice, peace, tolerance, and compassion. He drew parallels between these teachings and the foundational principles of the United Nations Charter.
Dar cited pivotal moments in Islamic history including the Covenant of Medina, the Treaty of Hudaibiyah, and the peaceful Conquest of Makkah as early models for modern international law and interreligious coexistence. These events, he noted, continue to serve as guiding lights for global diplomacy.
Warning that unresolved conflicts and injustices including the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories, the ongoing situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir, and the surge in Islamophobia pose serious threats to global peace and stability, Dar urged the OIC to take stronger, more unified steps to safeguard the rights of Muslims worldwide.
He stressed that the moral framework offered by the Prophet’s teachings must now be translated into concrete international policies. Proposing a strategic collaboration between the United Nations and the OIC, Dar affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to working alongside member states and global partners to promote peace, justice, and dignity for the Muslim Ummah.
