WEB DESK: Clocks across the UK will be set back by one hour today, marking the end of summer and the beginning of winter in the country.
As part of the transition to winter time, clocks are adjusted at 2 am tonight, signaling the start of the darker season. This adjustment is observed each year on the final Sunday of October.
The primary purpose of moving the clocks back one hour is to maximize the utilization of natural daylight, which aligns with the changing seasons. As a consequence of this time change, the time difference between the UK and Pakistan will increase from 4 to 5 hours, which is something for those in different time zones to be aware of.
This time adjustment is made in part to help address the challenges presented by early darkness during the winter months. As the days grow shorter and darkness falls earlier, the UK often experiences an increase in traffic accidents and home burglaries due to reduced visibility and extended periods of nighttime.
The transition to winter time aims to alleviate some of these safety concerns by better aligning daily activities with the available daylight hours.
